Left Field Greaser (Cone Mills), ~1.5 Years Of Wear

Left Field Greaser, Cone Mills red line selvedge denim, size 32. Purchased from Blue In Green in early 2012. Exact wear and washes unknown, but based on the fading, I would estimate 1.5+ years of actual wear.

Status: In need of numerous repairs; effectively retired.

Thoughts: I bought this pair of jeans for my younger brother for his birthday in 2012. He wore them frequently for the next couple years as his only high-end pair of jeans. After they were too worn to continue wearing he gave them back to me. These jeans could have a lot of life left with some repairs, but the cost of fixing them, along with the fact he’s since lost considerable weight and they no longer fit, makes it unlikely these will be worn more.

Still, this is an interesting pair to me as it’s the only one I have on hand made from the standard Cone Mills denim used by so many “Kickstarter brands” (though of course Left Field is a long-established brand.) Though it’s less interesting than various Japanese fabrics, it’s faded nicely and has decent texture and color for a sanforized, stock denim. This pair is a great example of what the standard Cone Mills denim can do. The jeans are well-made, though the bandana pocket bags are some of the flimsier ones I’ve come across, and the fly feels a bit lightweight compared to what I’m used to on Japanese jeans. Still, Left Field’s jeans continue to be an excellent value.
